Thurston | Family Physio Sport Conditioning and Wellness Centre

"Minimizing Pain and Maximizing Mobility"

Discover Your Strength at Ottawa's most prolific Gym!

Ottawa's only true athletic playground with a primary focus of navigating every athlete to Discover their Strength and Develop their Full Athletic Potential.

This location is also home to a state of the art Physiotherapy and
Massage Therapy Wellness Centre.

Unlike most fitness and conditioning centres with minimal floor space and packed with machines, the FPSCWC has plenty of open space for athletes to perform speed, agility, reactivity, quickness, and acceleration drills utilizing one machine, the human body. The FPSCWC challenges the athlete with 10 fully equipped power racks with key functional training tools including, dumbbells, balance boards, BOSUs, stability balls, multi resistance tubing, and benches complimented with a barrage of speed, agility and quickness tools such as ladders, hurdles, resisted and assisted speed harnesses, parachutes, cones, and power striders.

Anaerobic and aerobic base conditioning is covered by the Centres fleet of stationary bikes, summer and fall access to well maintained soccer fields directly across from the centre, and an unmatched open space for multi-directional training. Our 4000+ square foot training area is large enough to accommodate 30 + players at once in an inspiring and motivating environment loaded with energy and passion.

The Family Physio Sport Conditioning Team will develop programs to fit each individual athlete's abilities to optimal performance specific to their sport. Utilizing the combined knowledge of our kinesiologists, massage therapists, and sport physiotherapists, the FPSCWC team is able to produce a more competent, durable, and skilfull athlete through the improvement of their anaerobic capacity, dynamic balance, speed, agility, quickness, movement skills, muscle reactivity, joint stability, whole body reaction skills, multi-joint strength, standing explosive power, rotary core power, deceleration, power initiation, multi-directional agility. Each of these components will be trained to meet and exceed the intense physical demands of every sport and reduce the inherent risk of injuries. The conditioning workouts are 45 to 60 minutes in length and are available after school, mornings and weekends. The FPSCWC also offers on-site training where we bring our unique system of training to you.

The FPSCWC program is the answer to building team morale, player excitement and overall energy within individual athletes, teams and to promote cooperation/collaboration that recognizes fitness as a tool to enhance level of play and productivity.

Youth High Performance Sport Training

Sport is movement at a fast pace in an arena of organized chaos. Only through the training of specific movements will your son or daughter get the edge necessary to take their game to the next level. Our specialized training maximizes the potential of the young athlete by developing stronger more balanced bodies which in turn gives them the tools to become faster, more agile, and less prone to injury. Whether its a harder shot on the ice, or that faster first step on the field, this training will ensure every athletes goals are attained.

Athlete Injury Prevention Program

All athletes regardless of age are eligible for the most comprehensive athletic training program in Ottawa. Whether in a team, small, group, or individual environment a physiotherapist will be on hand to communicate to our sport conditioning coaches the individual needs of each athlete. This unprecedented dialog between therapist and coach will ensure every athlete whether playing on the ice, field, on court or in the pool, will be a stronger, more balanced and more importantly, a more resilient athlete.
